Time to reflect: European Day of Foundations and Donors

DAFNE (Donors and Foundations Networks in Europe) drives this conference held today October 1 in twelve countries, in order for society to improve their knowledge of the Foundations, among which we find ourselves.
This is a good time to reflect on the role that these organizations have in the areas of cooperation, social support and in general, human and social development and the fight against inequality and the North-South divide .
For the first time, foundations from across the continent come together in a common action that underscores the value of their work by holding simultaneous activities. The Spanish Association of Foundations is the organization promoting this initiative in Spain, Humana supports.
The European foundation sector is currently composed of over 110,000 foundations that generate between 750,000 and one million direct jobs; and an annual expenditure of between 3,000 and 150,000 million euros. It is therefore a growing sector with a significant impact on the socio-economic development of the EU.
European foundations operating in many areas of activity as there are citizens' needs and demands, including culture, education-research, environment, social services, health, and international cooperation.
