An unprecedented year in which we have remained true to our origins

An unprecedented year: 2020. A period in which the global health crisis and the consequent economic and social storm unleashed has forced us as individuals and as an organization to be more resilient, more flexible. It has forced us to undergo a permanent learning process, conditioned by uncertainty and a changing environment.

The Foundation has concentrated its efforts in 2020 on several fronts:

  • Ensure the sustainability of the organization, first in the short term and then with a view to the medium and long term.
  • Maintain employment in all cases in which it has been possible.
  • Ensure the best textile collection service even during weeks of strict confinement, as it is considered an essential activity.
  • Enhance communication with our partners to together reach the most profitable solutions for both parties.
  • Strengthen our collaboration with the rest of the Humana People to People partners to continue with international development cooperation actions, duly adapted to the new context.

Beyond this, the desire of the organization has always been to remain faithful to its origins, maintaining a global perspective, beyond the socio-sanitary situation in which we live.

The moment is still very complex and the learning continues but our goals remain the same: the protection of the environment through the promotion of the reuse of textiles, the fight
against the consequences of global warming and the improvement of the living conditions of those who need it most.

To achieve a more just and sustainable Planet, it is necessary, now more than ever, the collaboration between governments, companies and civil society to face the innumerable challenges we face.

The important thing is the people

Here are some indicators for Humana's activity in 2020:

  • 2,324,285 textile donors
  • 1,446,919 customers in the Foundation's store network
  • 124,826 people involved in cooperation programs
  • 2,486 people involved in local support initiatives in Spain
  • 463 activists in the 3C social agriculture programme
  • 550 people who make up the team
