Our 3C Activists are clear: 'If you want, you work from equality'

Humana People to People advocates for a transformative approach that recognizes the unique needs and challenges faced by individuals in all their diversity, including women and girls who suffer the consequences of gender inequalities.

Many women face limited access to education, healthcare, and economic opportunities, which perpetuates their economic dependence. Unequal participation in decision-making processes and the prevalence of gender-based violence and discriminatory norms further exacerbate these disparities, hindering overall progress and development.

2024 Women's Day

On the occasion of Women's Day we collect th e testimonies of several of the Activists of our 3C Urban Agriculture Program Cultivating Climate and Community.

Without a doubt it is a program with a feminine key.

  • Magdalena, from 3C l’Ametlla del Vallès: “I signed up for this project because I wanted to learn how to grow an organic garden. I was very excited. In the short time we have been going, we have had controversies between us. Each person is a world and you have to learn to live together. All in all, I find it a very enriching experience and the truth is that I am learning many things. “I am very happy to participate.”
  • Florencia, from 3C l’Ametlla del Vallès: "Participating in this project is giving me the opportunity to learn and meet lovely people."
  • Mariona, from 3C Tordera: "It is a living school where a human being can be in free contact with nature and their own food. It is a great learning experience and a great experience to share with their children."
  • Ashley, from 3C Palau Solità i Plegamans: “In this orchard I am the only woman so sometimes you can notice the difference in each person's roles. But, generally, we are pretty much on par.” “It would be good if more women took the step of coming to work the land and take the time to connect with it and experience the peace of mind it generates.” “In general I am very happy to be in this community garden project. Sharing with people and learning together is something that I highly recommend to future women who want to start. It is also a matter of health, if you work the land and eat what you harvest, you are better off mentally, physically and economically.”
  • Kheira Nebbab, from 3C Premià de Dalt and member of the Community of Arab Women: “Everything is good. I like to lead. I would like to come to the garden more, but I have other obligations. The garden serves to find people who help every day and bring vegetables home.”
  • Touria Touarec, from 3C Premià de Dalt and member of the Community of Arab Women: “I really like the garden and learning.”
  • khaijda nakmi, from 3C Premià de Dalt and member of the Community of Arab Women: “I really enjoy the garden. I can pick vegetables and socialize with my friends. I can propose things. Coming to the garden gives me the opportunity to meet people and help us. The garden suits me well.”
  • Begoña, from 3C San Agustín del Guadalix: “The organic garden is great… for both men and women. It gives me life to be in the garden and do the tasks... with the fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue that I suffer from. And I am thankful that I always have help when I need it. Thank you."
  • María, from 3C Rivas Vaciamadrid: “I have been able to take the initiative, I have felt listened to. If you want, you work from equality. I have done "tougher" jobs with men and very well. It is a very valid space to assert yourself and collaborate in all tasks.”
