Huerto de la Luna at 3C in Rivas Vaciamadrid was the space chosen for the day of exchange of experiences with a group of program activists, organized on Sunday, November 5. 3C Cultivating Climate and Community is Humana's urban agriculture program.
The objective was to bring together activists from various 3C gardens with the instructors and the rest of the Humana team involved to analyze the current operation of the program, review the positive aspects to strengthen them and identify those elements that can be improved.
Dynamics and activities during the day
The day developed as follows:
The conclusions and information obtained during the day will allow the preparation of a guide, framed within the Crowdfunding Campaign carried out last spring with the support of the Bonduelle Foundation and Ulule. The guide will be sent to the patrons who collaborated in the crowdfunding.
Level of participation and first conclusions
The day was very interesting: the 18 activists and family members participating in the activity were very well involved in the dynamics, opening a space for dialogue and contributing interesting points of view and being precise about the reality of the program, with its many lights and, also Of course, with some shadows.
In general terms, they are satisfied with the program, with the support and attention of the Humana instructors and with the training received. They also value the material that is delivered to them. They also highlight self-consumption and achieved production, which translates into better nutrition and savings for their domestic economies.
At the same time, they consider that both the Humana team and they, as activists, should work more on the 'C' for Community included in the program's name itself: Cultivating Climate and Community.
They affirm that the ideal is to improve the level of active participation of certain people, the communication between all of them and the consensus in activities such as fumigation, which influences all members of the garden.
Some of the activists came with their sons and daughters, so there was also space to look for worms, learn more about the vegetables that are grown or discover the sounds of the garden, from the wind to the devices to persuade moles and other possible visitors.
