This Tuesday, April 23, the official inauguration of the project “Promoting social, economic and cultural empowerment and leadership in Kichwa women in the province of Tungurahua, Ecuador” took place, financed by the AECID (Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation ) and implemented by Fundación Humana Pueblo a Pueblo Ecuador and Humana Fundación Pueblo para Pueblo.
The event took place in the Ambato auditorium and was attended by authorities from the province of Tungurahua, the Municipality of Ambato, the Parish Governments, representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock, representatives of Humana Fundación Pueblo para Pueblo and the Fundación Humana Pueblo para Pueblo Ecuador.
In total, the event brought together 290 people, including more than 200 producers who are part of the farmers' clubs of this project, were present at the inauguration, in which there were also cultural presentations that enlivened the event.
The objective of the project is to promote female empowerment through the implementation of Women Farmers' Clubs. Through these groups, a total of 400 women from the Quisapincha, Juan Benigno Vela, Pasa, San Fernando and Tisaleo parishes will receive training and technical advice to improve their agricultural practices, increase production and generate income for the community.
Rafael Mas, Director of Institutional Relations and Projects at Humana, present at the event, highlights that 'the enthusiasm that both the people and the local institutions involved are showing. Gathering nearly 300 people in the Ambato auditorium has been exciting and reflects the enthusiasm with which this project is expected and the desire to collaborate.
