UDIT, the University of Design, Innovation and Technology, and Humana Fundación Pueblo para Pueblo have formalized a collaboration agreement in order to continue promoting awareness about textile reuse and sustainability among young Fashion students at the University.
The agreement, signed by Rosa Pérez, president of UDIT, and Elisabeth Molnar, general director of Humana, will strengthen the relationship between both institutions, which continue to collaborate after developing several academic projects in the Degrees in Fashion Design and Fashion Management and Communication.
Both institutions began their collaboration in October 2022 with different visits to the Humana textile reuse preparation plant in Leganés. Since then, more than 300 students from the UDIT Fashion area have been able to learn about the work of the Foundation and participate in different projects and conferences.
Visits to the Humana Reuse Preparation Plant
The agreement now signed proposes different lines of work, including the continuation of visits to Humana's textile management facilities, mutual and continued support in the implementation of fashion projects that seek to encourage textile reuse, or the promotion of research projects in the educational and industrial fields.
The fashion and textile sector is going through a crucial moment, thanks to the legislative push that is being given by the European Union and the path towards sustainability undertaken by the large companies in the sector. Concepts such as eco-design, circularity, traceability, due diligence and sustainable management of resources and waste must, therefore, continue to be promoted in the academic field.
Hence the importance of joint work between entities such as UDIT and Humana, in which raising awareness and developing greater environmental and social awareness on the part of students and future professionals in the world of fashion are two of its fundamental axes.
