27-11-2023

A team from Humana Fundación Pueblo para Pueblo travels to COP28, the 2023 United Nations Climate Change Conference, which takes place from November 30 to December 12 at EXPO City in Dubai.

Along with the representatives of the Foundation, other professionals from Humana People to People, ADPP Angola and DAPP Zimbabwe, among other HPP organizations, will also participate in the COP.

From December 1 to 6, Humana will have a stand in the Blue Zone, under the title 'Communities at the heart of climate adaptation: driving change, building resilience'.

In addition, it organizes four events during COP28:

  • December, 3. Promote climate change education and youth action for global sustainable development. Decarbonitation of shools in Yunnan province, China. From 12 to 2:15 p.m. BlueZone. China Pavillion. This is a project financed by the EU.
  • December, 6. Empowering tomorrow’s leaders: nurturing climate-resilient communities with green schools and lifelong learning. Green schools for climate resilient communities in Cunene, Angola. From 1:45 p.m. to 2:45 p.m. GreenZone. Greening Education Hub.
  • December, 8. High level panel on African Union Year of education 2024: catalysing skills potential for a green economy in Africa. Boosting the green transition through Humana’s TVET colleges in Sub Saharan Africa. From 4:15 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. GreenZone. RewirED Summit 2023, Connect Conference.
  • December, 9. Catalysing skills potential for a green economy in Africa and the Global South. Boosting the Green Transition through Humana’s TVET colleges in Sub Saharan Africa From 1:15 p.m. to 2:45 p.m. BlueZone. SE Room 6.

Climate change is already having a devastating impact on the world’s most impoverished communities, and it’s clear that it has the potential to keep millions trapped in poverty. Without adaptation efforts, the most vulnerable groups will experience severe food shortages, loss of livelihoods, extreme poverty, and even loss of life.

Given this scenario, Humana People to People's programs to combat the consequences of climate change work along five main lines:

  1. Working with Frontline & Vulnerable Communities
  2. Promoting Locally-Led Climate Action & 2 Focusing on Last-Mile Adaptation
  3. Facilitating the Strengthening of Local Structures
  4. Fostering Climate Resilient Communities and Livelihoods
  5. Harnessing the potential of multi-stakeholder collaboration
