To this day, Humana continues with its activity of collecting textiles, taking extreme measures of safety and protection at work. The service will be maintained as long as conditions allow.
Order SND / 271/2020, of March 19, of the Ministry of Health, establishes the instructions on waste management in the situation of sanitary crisis caused by COVID-19. In accordance with the Order, the collection and management of municipal waste is considered an essential service. The competent administrations must, therefore, guarantee sufficient collection frequencies, in order to avoid the accumulation of waste outside their containers, as well as their subsequent treatment. The Ministry itself considers the selective collection activity as having a low probability of exposure.
According to the aforementioned Ministerial Order, the management of waste from households without positive or quarantined by COVID-19, will continue to be carried out in the usual way in accordance with the regulations.
For this reason, the selective collection of textiles is maintained under normal conditions, taking into account the sanitary recommendations. Humana is in permanent contact with the Town Halls and companies with which it collaborates, in order to follow their instructions in this regard.
Maximum prevention and use of PPE’s
The Foundation's staff is equipped with the corresponding PPE and has taken extreme measures of prevention. In addition, the Humana collection units are provided with disinfection products that are applied around the containers, following the instructions of the collaborators who have incorporated these measures into their waste collection and management plans, as a consequence of the health crisis .
Waste managers are essential for the proper functioning of cities, so the Foundation's aim is to continue collecting clothes as long as possible, offering the best service, taking into account the exceptional situation in Spanish society.
Humana wants to send again a message of encouragement to all citizens and express their condolences to the relatives of the victims of the pandemic.
