New Humana Corporate Volunteer Program

Humana has launched a new Corporate Volunteering Program, focused on sustainable agriculture in urban gardens, which is carried out within the framework of its 3C Social and Urban Agriculture Program Cultivating Climate and Community.
The Foundation considers this corporate volunteering activity as a great opportunity to mobilize the human capital of companies and organizations in search of improving the environment in which they operate and the relationship with their stakeholders, thus exercising a role of social leadership as responsible entities.
For this reason, Humana is clear that this is a very appropriate activity for entities that seek timely action in line with the Sustainable Development Goals, which promotes the values of teamwork.
As an added value, volunteers have the opportunity to visit the Preparation Plant for the Reuse of Leganés, the largest facility in Spain dedicated to the sustainable management of textile waste, with 10,000 square meters of surface area and a processing capacity of 7,000 tons of clothing and footwear per year.
Help Up and Fundación Esfera, the first organizations that participate in the Program
Help Up and Fundación Esfera have been the first organizations that have joined this new Corporate Volunteer Program. On the morning of June 25, the Help Up team visited the plant to later join several of the people working with the Sphere Foundation and 3C activists to carry out various activities: a brief introduction to sustainable agriculture, cataloging of the vegetables that are being cultivated at this moment, manufacture of seed bombs, identification of possible pests or construction of a spiral of aromatic plants, among others.
The objective was to share simple activities in a natural environment that reinforce team spirit and interact with other groups, generating the community that characterizes the 3C program. During the dynamics, topics such as climate change, healthy eating or self-consumption were addressed. This first experience, according to the comments of the participants, has been very satisfactory.
