Humana Fundación Pueblo para Pueblo is one of the entities selected among the 101 #PorElClima Actions, whose 2020 Report is presented today, December 15.
This Community seeks the consolidation in Spain of all #PorElClima actors: companies, public administrations, NGOs and Foundations, the media, universities and people. The Community recognizes the effort that small, medium and large Spanish companies and organizations are making to face the climate emergency.
The second life of clothing and the fight against climate change
Humana has been selected for its contribution to the fight against the consequences of global warming by promoting the reuse of clothing and footwear as a mechanism to reduce emissions, promote sustainable management of resources and waste, responsible consumption and fashion sustainable. And all this, generating a circular economic model that contributes to reducing the demand for raw materials and natural resources.
Since the end of 2016, the #PorElClima Community has been working to contribute decisively to the implementation of the Paris Agreement in Spain; in looking for the pioneers of action against climate change to help them, accompany their action and make their efforts visible; in carrying out resonant actions with the capacity to cross the "frontier of the initiates", which promote imitation; and, in articulating communication channels so that these actions go as far as possible.
Participation of the three key sectors of change, public administrations, companies and citizens
Representatives of the three key sectors of change, that is, public administrations, companies and citizens, participate in the driving group of the #PorElClima Community: the Spanish Office for Climate Change and the Fundación Biodiversidad, both from MITECO, the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces (FEMP), the Spanish Global Compact Association and the Spanish Green Growth Group, SEO / BirdLife, the Red Cross and ECODES. Currently, 2,000 companies, 250 public administrations, 650 social entities and 17,000 people participate.
This second edition has run into a health crisis that in a matter of months has revolutionized the entire world. Society is going through a time of great complexity, being greatly affected by the Covid-19 pandemic. Having had such a high participation in the initiative this year is more relevant than ever, since the organizations have shown great strength and power of transformation to face the health, economic, social and environmental complexities that we are going through.
