'TEJIENDO DESCOSÍOS'. Sustainable fashion patterns. March 30, Espacio Ecooo Madrid.
The fashion industry is one of the most polluting on the planet: it is responsible for 8% of total global emissions. Each year 80,000 million new garments are manufactured, according to data from the Ellen McCarthur Foundation. And it seems that the future in the short term is equal or more worrying: the fast fashion model is already happening to ultra fast fashion.
Fast fashion brands are those that produce 15 to 20 collections per year, with a high turnover, favored by their low prices. Fast fashion takes an average of six weeks to make a garment, because they are inspired by the big catwalks or fashion week, while a fashion retail produces approximately two collections a year.
This situation has generated several international brands, in order not to lose competitiveness, further shorten the time of their production processes, which is why they are considered ultra fast fashion. Now they only take two weeks on average to manufacture products that, in some cases, only remain in rotation for a week and are delivered immediately to the customer, without stock problems and with a quality standard acceptable to the customer.
March 30, Ecooo Space, Madrid, with Lapili
Humana promotes sustainable fashion as an alternative to consumer models, fed by fast and ultra fast fashion brands. The reuse and prolongation of the life cycle of the garments and, in short, the application of a fashionable circular model allows to develop other buying patterns, more respectful with the environment.
This is the spirit of the event that the Foundation organizes this Saturday March 30 in the Ecooo space of Madrid, with Lapili, an artist, influencer and passionate about sustainable fashion. TEJIENDO DESCOSÍOS. Sustainable fashion patterns has the collaboration of Altrapo Lab, the Sustainable Fashion Association of Madrid and Mery Makeup.
The agenda of the event is as follows:
