The training of primary school teachers - through the Teacher Training Colleges -, professional training for young people and the education of vulnerable children are the cornerstones of the work of the Foundation and its local partners in the field of Education.
Preschool education - from 3 to 6 years old - has proven to be vital in favoring the early development of boys and girls and thus facilitating their incorporation into primary school. Being already integrated into the dynamics of the school, knowing the basics of the language and having started in social interaction, young students are more receptive to the acquisition of knowledge.
At the same time, it is about involving parents, in order to enhance the work of preschools. To achieve this, meetings are held and committees are set up with the participation of their families. Some of the aspects that are addressed in them are fundamental notions of hygiene, health, nutrition and education in the family nucleus.
The training of teachers is also capital: both in the case of new teachers and those with experience but who participate in content update sessions.
150 POF's and 4,000 children involved
In China, the Foundation supports two preschools, led by its local partner Humana People to People China (HPPC), which has around 150 pre-school schools, with some 4,000 students involved. Guao Shaolu, four years old, is one of the girls enrolled in one of these Pre-schools of the Future (POF). Her teachers remember that she was withdrawn, unable to play with her classmates and participate in any activity. As Guao herself said: "I did not like school and I preferred to be at home." However, through the narration of children's stories and work with simple drawings, the girl was gradually integrated into the group and the dynamics of the classes. He began to talk with his classmates and teachers.
Increase in the social skills of the little ones
This is an example of the importance of increasing the social skills of children; only when they interact with their environment do they begin to grow as people. From the earliest childhood they have a strong tendency to look for someone to socialize with, who to communicate with. The development of your personality, your emotions and your emotional intelligence depends on these first processes. Values ??and aspects such as humility, friendship, trust and the ability to collaborate with others begin to be outlined during this process.
