We are excited to inform you about the upcoming Africa Skills Revolution Awards Ceremony on October 17, 2024, which will take place during Africa Skills Week 2024, from 14 to 18 October in Accra, Ghana. This event, part of a broader Youth Advocacy campaign led by AUDA-NEPAD and Humana People to People, will highlight and celebrate the remarkable contributions of young Africans across the continent through Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET).

As Africa’s youth population continues to grow, so does the urgency to provide them with the skills necessary to secure employment, pursue entrepreneurship, and contribute to the continent’s sustainable development. TVET plays a critical role in addressing unemployment, underemployment, and the evolving needs of Africa’s job markets, making it central to the transformation of the continent’s future.

In this context, the Africa Skills Revolution, campaign, which includes the African Skills Competition, has already attracted nearly 500 submissions showcasing innovative solutions that empower young people with the skills needed to succeed. The Awards Ceremony is a key highlight of Africa Skills Week 2024, which is organized under the theme, “Skills and jobs for the 21st century: quality skills development for sustainable employability in Africa.” This year’s theme reinforces the critical role of TVET in addressing socio-economic challenges and building a resilient, skilled workforce for the future.

After completing her studies, she decided it was best to put the knowledge she had gained into practice, opting to become an entrepreneur in the field of animal production, focusing mainly on poultry farming.

She started with a batch of 100 chicks and, gradually, her business has grown. The income from selling the chickens has helped her significally and has been able to assist her mother with household expenses, support herself, and save a portion of the profits to improve her business

Her dream is to one day become one of the major broiler chicken producers and sellers, not only for the city of Chimoio but also for the entire province of Manica.
